British imperial experience in conflict management in Northern Ireland
Pavliňáková, Dominika ; Kučera, Tomáš (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
Bachalor's thesis 'British imperial experience in conflict management in Northern Ireland' discusses British army deployment to Northern Ireland's Troubles between 1969 and 1998. Thesis observes the use of classical British army counterinsurgency doctrine, which was formed in 1960s in the withdrawal from Empire (doctrine was massively influenced by successful COIN campaign in Malaya 1948-1960). Based on application of particular aspects of the doctrine (namely clear political aim, hearts and minds and civil-military coordination) this thesis describes to which extend army relied on this classical doctrine and to which extend was the doctrine modified and how new tactics and strategies were developed for the specific environment of Northern Ireland. Analysis of British army actions points out that army was strongly leaning towards the classical doctrine during initial years of deployment (1969-1972) lacking intelligence of its environment and made several mistakes because of its inability to reflect specific conditions of the conflict. In upcoming years, especially after direct rule of London was imposed in 1972 and the introduction of police primacy, army focused on intelligence gathering and fighting terrorism and was able to adapt to specific conditions and challenges rather well.

This thesis focuses on financial literacy in pre-school education. The aim of this thesis is to create a series of activities, that correspond to the development of pre-school children. The proposed activities relate to financial literacy in a broader sense, than just financial mathematics. The objective is to verify eligibility of proposed activities, both from the author's perspective, as well as from the perspective of the teachers of kindergarten, in which the research was set. The creation of proposed activities is based on the theoretical foundations obtained in the theoretical part of this work. The objective of the proposed activities is to introduce children to the fundamentals of financial literacy, initiate first experience, fortify designed habits and acquaint children with elementary concepts. The verification method is based on qualitative research with elements of action research. Observation of pre-school children during the activities served as main data collection method. The activities were captured on video for later analysis and post-reflection. The obtained data allowed possible modifications of activities and conditions of their implementation, as well as further recommendations for teacher practice.

Bálint, Miroslav ; Hornát, Jan (advisor) ; Raška, Francis (referee) ; Fojtek, Vít (referee)
The American war in Vietnam was one of the Cold war conflict and United States had entered this war within their policy of communist detained. United States had supported France first. Later, they took political and military responsibility themselves. Despite many recommendations, US Military Command had chosen conventional way of fighting, which was based on large scale strikes against enemy to undermine his will. This strategy reflected US history of war success and technological superiority. But the main difference was theatre of conflict itself. The enemy was fighting guerrilla way and avoided large scale struggles. The only solution was to the application of counterinsurgency strategy, which was focused on winning "Hearts and minds" of Vietnamese population. Its development occurred in everyday fighting experience and combat troops had started to apply it successfully in many Vietnam areas. Unfortunately, American army wasn't able to apply this successful model across the board and insisted on conventional way of pacification till the end of the Vietnam war.
